This project involves the completion of a tutorial for planet modeling and animation available in Chapter 2 of the Derakshani text.

The following is the tutorial version.

Below is my personal modification to the tutorial version.

I added textures to the planets, moons, and the sun. I've also added a background image of the stars and Milky Way to the plane.

I've modified the orbital speeds to more accurately reflect the actual speeds. In my animation, the Earth makes 2 rotations around the Sun, and the rest of the planet's orbital speeds were calculated with respect to the Earth's.

Furthermore, I used directional lighting and ambient lighting to create light/shadow effects on the planets (I have not figured out how to prevent the sun from having a shadow, though).

Lastly, I manipulated a sphere to create an asteroid-like shape and applied a rock texture to it. I used a motion path to direct it through my solar system.
